Heating system refurbishment without loss of comfort - kindergarteners do not have to freeze
Heating system refurbishment in the middle of winter doesn't have to mean giving up cozy warmth and hot water. This was ensured by a mobile heating unit that reliably bridged the one-week heat interruption at the Schirmitzbühel kindergarten in Kapfenberg.
Need for action after crack in boiler appears
The refurbishment of the 27-year-old heating system of the Schirmitzbühel kindergarten had become unavoidable due to a crack in the boiler. This is the responsibility of the property department of the municipality of Kapfenberg, which already began preparatory and planning work for a new energy-efficient, state-of-the-art heating system in the summer. "We always reschedule refurbishment work that doesn't disrupt ongoing operations to the winter months. It became clear quickly that a mobile heating unit should be used for the duration of the heating system refurbishment to ensure the interim supply of the building with heat and hot water," reported Manuela Hammer, the engineer responsible for the Kapfenberg property department.
Mobile heating unit bridged heat supply
Hotmobil, the rental specialist for mobile energy centers, provided a mobile heating unit in a trailer with an output of 150 kW and integrated heating oil tank. The unit was delivered at the beginning of the refurbishment work by the Hotmobil service technicians and was connected with hoses for supply and return to the heating circuit in the building. A silencer installed on the flue system of the Hotmobil unit significantly reduced the sound emissions and thus the noise level. All ran smoothly hand in hand so that the kindergarteners and their teachers were not affected during the one week of refurbishment work and the new heating system could be put into operation at the agreed date.
Digital remote monitoring ensures safe operation
During the entire period of operation, the operating data of the mobile heating unit could be easily and conveniently monitored digitally via computer or smartphone. This data included parameters such as the heating oil level in the tank, the boiler temperature, the water pressure, the heating circuit supply and return temperature and the domestic hot water temperature. This makes it much easier for those responsible to monitor the system. Any faults could thus be detected and eliminated in a timely manner. All operational and safety-relevant system data will be logged over the entire service duration of the heating unit, thus ensuring even greater safety and transparency.
